WAYS TO MINIMIZE TRAFFIC IN AND AROUND COOLIDGE SCHOOL

  1. Coolidge School Walk-to-School Initiative- Parents and children are encouraged to take part in our walk-to-school initiative sponsored by our physical education department. Walking to school not only promotes a healthy lifestyle, but also provides a daily opportunity for parents and children to spend time together and communicate. I encourage all families to take part in this program as we simulate a “hike across the United States”.  Further details will follow after school opens.
  2. Walking School Bus- A walking school bus is a group of children walking to school with one or more adults. It can be as informal as two families taking turns walking their children to school or as structured as a route with meeting points, a timetable and a regularly rotated schedule of trained volunteers.
  3. Car Pool- Setting up a car pool with other families will greatly reduce traffic in and around Coolidge School.
  4. Park and Walk-Many parents typically park several blocks from school and then walk with their children to school.

SAFETY REMINDERS

During construction the safety of our children are of primary importance. The teachers and I will be reviewing the following rules daily with your children. Please take the time to reinforce them at home.

  1. Students should not initiate conversations with construction workers.
  2. Students should not venture beyond construction barriers.
  3. Students should not walk through south (main) parking lot without a parent or adult.
  4. Students should remind parents to drive carefully in parking lots.
