DESCRIPTION:
The Wyckoff PTO Economy Shop is a consignment shop that sells new or “like new” items such as clothes, toys, small household items, handcrafted items, sporting goods, etc. It is located at 399 Main Street (formerly the Wyckoff Train Station building). The shop is run primarily by parent volunteers and collectively, they provide a community service.

To explain briefly how the shop works, the Consignor pays $5.00 to open an account. This entitles them to consign up to ten items per week by appointment only. Once the item is sold, the consignor receives 60% of the profit and the shop keeps 40%. Donations of items will, also, be accepted anytime during shop hours and 100% of the profits will go to the shop.

The proceeds of the shop are divided among the PTO’s of the Wyckoff school system. These profits have been used to help the schools purchase educational equipment, fund events, and further other various needs of the children.

Please consider joining this wonderful group of people by volunteering 1 to 3 hours per month for such a great cause. Not only do our children benefit, but the public benefits in many regards, as well.

So please team up with a friend to “play store” and provide this great service for our community.

Volunteer for one Monday per month. The Economy Shop is closed to the public on Mondays. Dress is casual and you may bring toddlers with you. There are two parents per school each Monday and you can bring items to donate.

As a volunteer, you would be pulling off the racks clothes and other items with a certain color tag (indicating that they have been there over a month) and moving them to a half-price area. Some light cleaning is also done.

Selling/Receiving

As one of the few volunteers on shift, you would be responsible for answering the telephone, accepting in consigned or donated merchandise, tagging and/or putting away items, working the cash register, etc.

Selling only
No consignments or donations are accepted on Selling Only days, so as a volunteer, you would be doing selling related tasks, such as answering the phone and working the cash register.
