Lincoln Elementary PTO
Sicomac Elementary PTO
Washington Elementary PTO
Eisenhower Middle School PTO

The Parent-Teacher Organization of Wyckoff is composed of five individual PTO's representing each of the district's five schools. Each PTO is comprised of parents and teachers who work closely together to provide educational and social enrichment and to promote understanding and cooperation among the home, school and community.

PTO members give countless hours to the schools. Some of this time is spent in the schools in activities such as assisting in the media center, being a class parent, conducting Great Books discussions, or serving special lunches. Members of the PTO's also arrange fundraisers such as Food For Thought, Gift Wrap Sales, Plant Sales, Holiday Stores, and Roller Skating Parties. Participation in events such as these can be both enjoyable and rewarding to parent and child.

As a result of these activities, the PTO's were able to donate to the schools well over $150,000 in gifts. Included among these gifts were: cultural assemblies, video and computer equipment, funding for field trips and playground equipment.

If you would like to become a PTO member, contact the PTO President or First Vice President at your school. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

P.T.O. Coordinating Council:

Part of the Wyckoff Parent-Teacher Organization is the Coordinating Council, a group that represents the district's five PTO's, the administration, and special committees, such as the Economy Shop. Through the Coordinating Council, the PTO's have an opportunity to communicate, and to learn from each other and share ideas!

In past years the Coordinating Council has sponsored voter registration and absentee ballot campaigns to ensure the passage of school budgets. An annual Blood Drive is co-sponsored by the Wyckoff Education Association and the Coordinating Council. Each year a District Wide Event is held to foster school community spirit, in addition to raising funds for a designated local charity. For each of the past three years, a volleyball tournament consisting of students, parents and staff raised $2,000 or more. The first year the proceeds were donated to the Buehler Challenger and Space Center. The second year's recipient was the Wyckoff PTO Economy Shop Refurbishment Fund. We invite all parents and staff members to participate. The Coordinating Council continues to coordinate the Wyckoff School Calendar in cooperation with local merchants who support this endeavor with advertisements.

The Coordinating Council meets three times a year. All members of the community are invited to attend.

P.T.O. Economy Shop:

The Wyckoff PTO Economy Shop is a consignment and resale shop managed and operated on a volunteer basis by members of the Wyckoff PTOs, Ramapo APTS, Indian Hills PTSO and the local community. It sells new and gently used clothing for men, women, infants and children, shoes, books, toys, jewelry, sports equipment, house wares, scout uniforms, costumes, crafts, holiday items and much more.

Consignors may open an account for $7 and may consign up to ten items per week. Consignors receive 60% of sale price, and the remaining 40% goes to the schools. Donations of suitable items are also gratefully accepted. Items left beyond the consignment period become property of the shop and are donated to numerous local charities. Additional volunteers are always needed to staff the shop. If you are interested, please contact your school PTO for additional information.

This year marks the Economy Shop's 60th year of community service. This past year the shop returned over $48,000 to our schools. We invite you to get involved in this worthwhile effort and help us to continue our success. It’s fun!

Receiving is by appointment only during all shop hours except Saturday. The shop is open only when schools are in session. It is located in the historic train station at 399 Main Street. Phone # (201) 891-5765.

Food for Thought:

Did you know that you could provide extra dollars to the public schools in Wyckoff and it wouldn't cost you an extra penny?

Local supermarkets - including Grand Union, A&P, Shop-Rite, Foodtown and the Market Basket - are contributing 5% of the price of your purchases to township schools, providing you use scrip when purchasing your goods.

Scrip is simply a form of a gift certificate which can be purchased in several demoninations at any of the district schools. The PTO has developed the scrip program, known as "Food For Thought," in conjunction with these food stores and other local retail stores. Retail stores such as the GAP, Macy's and Sam Goody's, to name a few, contribute 5-13% of your purchase price. Contact your Food For Thought representative listed on the back page of the district Calendar for additional participating stores. Remember, anyone can purchase scrip by calling a PTO Food for Thought representative.

Helping Hands:

The Helping Hands Program is sponsored by the PTO Coordinating Council in cooperation with the Wyckoff Police Department to assist children who may encounter a problem going to or from school. A hurt, sick, frightened or lost child can seek aid at a home displaying the Helping Hands sign. The adult volunteer will call the child's parents or if necessary the police.

For more information call the Helping Hands chairperson at your school.

The Wyckoff Education Foundation (W.E.F.):

The Wyckoff Education Foundation is a non-profit organization. The Foundation was established to identify the special needs of the our school system and to raise funds to address those needs. Funds raised will go directly to the Wyckoff Public School District to enhance its educational program. The Foundation is comprised of Wyckoff residents who volunteers their time and effort to achieve its goals.

Fund raisers occur during the school year. Check the September Calendar for the WEF Fun Run and the April Calendar for the annual Beefsteak Dinner/Dance Auction. Other fund-raising events offered during the school year will be brought to your attention through school and district communications.

Questions regarding the WEF, where to send a donation or how you might become involved, may be directed to the WEF representative for your child's school. Check the last page of the PTO calendar for your representative, or CLICK HERE for additional information from the WEF Webpage.
