Tree
by Taylor
That tree's gone through a lot of things,
from nesting squirrels to butterfly wings,
from summer to fall,
from winter to spring,
that's tree's gone through a lot of things.
Every year a child climbs up it,
protects a catcher and his mitt,
every one of its apples have been bit,
but no matter what the season brings,
that tree's gone through a lot of things.
Every bird in the town knows the tree
through,
that tree knows every bird too,
whether it's a nest that's new,
or one more squirrel or two,
that tree's gone through a lot of things.
And no matter how many times the people
come,
and chop the trees down, one by one,
but cut him down, they'll never do,
because they know,
that tree's been through a lot of things.
