The Voice
By Ashley

Their eyes are gray
The sky is gray
And everything seems white
These are things
When my eyes are closed
In the dead of night
A small nonexistent voice
Speaks inside my dreams
Speaks of all the things
That I will never see
It also says, "Now listen here!
"Don't open your eyes!
"For if you do, I guarantee
"You'll see what you despise!"
You have to wonder why it says
All these meaningful words
But then you have to really think
About our different world
All the things that people say
They say that they don't mean
But you really know deep inside
They mean just everything
You wonder if it stains their soul
For all the pain they've caused
I hear their whispers far away
And straight up in my face
It sometimes makes me
Want to leave
This cold and dreary place
Someday I will, and all you'll see
Is my successful face.
So now I guess
I have to wake
To go on to my day
But every day I have to say
I see it with my eyes
The very thing it guaranteed
That I would despise
Isn't that a funny thing?
But it's only just the truth.
