Body Systems Poster Project

Objectives: 

  1. to review the structures and functions of the following systems: skeletal. muscular, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular and excretory
  1. to gain an understanding how the nervous system coordinates voluntary and involuntary functions
  1. to demonstrate an understanding of how system functions are inter-related by giving a detailed example

What should be on your poster:

  1. a visual display of the structures of the systems listed-  This can be done by hand-drawn illustrations, cut paper, 3-D, or pop-up paper models.  A representative pair of muscles can be used. Your artwork must be original, i,e, NO photocopies, computer generated art, or images from the Internet.  You may use illustrations form the book or web site for inspiration.  Be sure to identify the structures by key or labels.
  1. a written description of the functions of the structures of each system-  You may use charts, concepts maps, tables, and lists for this part of the poster.
  1. an example detailing the interaction of at least 3 of the systems during a common physical activity such as exercise, eating and digesting lunch, sleeping, etc.-  If you can include more than three systems, please do so.  This portion of the poster can be done in paragraph, chart, table, concept map or a combination of these.

Assessment:

visual display of the structures of the systems listed-  maximum 20 points

written description of the functions of the structures of each system- maximum 20 points

example detailing the interaction of at least 3 of the systems during a common physical activity- maximum 20 points

appearance and attention to detail- maximum 20 points

Individual contribution to the project- maximum 20 points

total possible points

80 points for project + 20 points for individual contribution = 100 points

10% of marking period grade
