Mission Completion First Marking Period

 

In Tasks 1, 2, and 3 you discovered facts about air and the organization of the atmosphere.  In your journal, you wrote summary paragraphs about those topics.  Your report should reflect your work in science class.  This is not an Internet search.  Any information, graphs, charts, or diagrams that are used from another source should be referenced in the works cited section.

What is required for this report:

  • Title Page
  • Body of the Paper
  • Works Cited

Outline for the Body of the Paper

Introduction

  • Define air
  • List and describe the properties of air
  • List and describe the organization of air into layers of the atmosphere
  • State that properties of air can be used to forecast weather

Properties of  Air

  • Expand on each property of air : chemistry, physical properties, effect of temperature and pressure on air
  • Include who discovered the property
  • Include what you did to discover the property

The Atmosphere

  • the organization of the atmosphere
  • the function of each layer of the atmosphere

Forecasting Weather

  • How the atmospheric conditions can be used to forecast weather.

 

The writing style should be expository- "Just the facts, ma'am."  Be informative. 

You may include graphs, tables, or illustrations.  If you use digital files from another source, you MUST give credit to the original source.  Be creative, make your own graphs, tables or illustrations.  Make sure you reference visual representations.  For example, "As shown in Figure 1, most of Earth's air is composed of nitrogen."
