Project Information Page

Hi. My name is Jamie Caputo Getrajdman and I am a sixth grade world cultures teacher at Eisenhower Middle School in Wyckoff, New Jersey. Learning should be fun, and the classroom environment should be motivating and exciting! At Eisenhower, my continuing goal is to act as a facilitator of learning by offering reality-based and project-based lessons and activities to my students. If you have any questions about what I do in my classroom, I can be reached by clicking on the email link below.

The Impact of the Three Gorges Dam on Chinese Culture and Geography

The goal of this website is to provide teachers with ideas and resources for teaching Ancient China in a relevant way.  It will also provide students with the resources they need to write an effectve speech for a round-table symposium on the impact of the Three Gorges Dam on Chinese Geography and Culture. The site is not only a source of accurate information for students, but it will also serve as a model for future classes in that actual student work, video, and evaluation is available. Teachers are free to use any part or the entire project when planning their units on ancient or modern-day China, and parents are welcome to see the reality-based and project-based work that their children have done in social studies at Eisenhower. As you peruse the site, you will be linked to sites that offer information on all aspects of ancient Chinese culture and geography, news and journal articles, accurate factual data on the Three Gorges Dam, and suggested reading that can be obtained in most libraries.
