The
GOAL of the Penny War is to collect as many PENNIES
as
possible in your jar and put as many NON-PENNIES
in
everyone elseÕs jar.
Money is worth ÒpointsÓ based on its monetary
value.
Pennies = 1 point
1 Dollar = 100 points
Nickels = 5 points
5 Dollars = 500 points
Dimes = 10 points
10 Dollars = 1,000 points
Quarters = 25 points
20 Dollars = 2,000 points
Pennies GIVE
your team positive points!
Nickels, dimes,
quarters, and any dollar bills take points AWAY from the teamÕs total.
Therefore, you
want to put PENNIES in YOUR TEAMÕS jar
(positive points) and nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar
bills (negative points) in the jars of OTHER TEAMS.
PENNIES
GOOD!!! SILVER BAD!!!
BOMB
THE OTHER TEAMS WITH SILVER and help subtract from their positive penny
total!!!
Strategy
counts. Have fun with it!
Whichever team
has THE MOST POINTS at the end of the Penny War, wins!!
Team 8Õs Penny War
will run for five consecutive days:
Monday, November 17 through Friday November 21
.
The winning class
will be announced on Monday, November 24.
There will be a
big pizza and donut party for the winning class!
Rules:
1)
There
will be 1 container for each of Mr. LevyÕs language arts classes. Each container will have a slit at the
top so coin and paper money can be inserted.
2)
The
containers will be labeled for the appropriate block and located inside of Mr.
LevyÕs room (417).
3)
Students
from their respective blocks should put pennies in their class' container with
one point being received for every penny in the container.
4)
You
may put other coins and paper currency into other containers. Each silver coin
or bill will reduce the number of points from that container by the amount of
the coin (e.g. a nickel reduces the points by five, a dime by ten, a dollar by
100, etc.).
5)
Containers
will be emptied and counted everyday and the totals for each class will be
posted daily in room 417 as well as on Mr. LevyÕs webpage for people to see.
6)
The
winning class will receive a big pizza and donut party.
