WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
TEAM 8
PENNY WARS!
It’s that time of year again - the time of year where we can really make a difference in the lives of those in need.
There are over 3 million homeless people in the United States today. There are countless others who don’t have enough money to feed and cloth their families properly.
Team 8 is going to try to make a difference!
Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you: Penny Wars!
Penny Wars consistently raise a lot of money in a short amount
of time because of the competition. Please read the guidelines
below in order to help our
penny war be successful and fun.
Our Penny War will take place for 5 consecutive days from Monday, November 17 through Friday November 21.
The winning class will be announced on Monday, November 24
and will receive a pizza and donut party!
The money raised during the Penny War will be donated to The Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
PENNY WARS!
FINAL STANDINGS
December 2008
Period 1: -26,533 (2nd)
Period 2: -27,942 (3rd)
Period 5: -22,666 (WINNER!)
Period 8: -34,534 (4th)
WINNER: Period 5
This year, the students of Team 8 raised $1,961 for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
This money will help feed a lot of needy families.
In fact, due to the discounts that the Community Food Bank receives from supermarkets, our $1,961 will actually buy close to $7,000 worth of groceries for needy families.
To reach almost $2,000 with only
88 students is an amazing feat.
I am unbelievably proud of each and every student on our team!
"Fair does not mean equal.
Fair means giving each studentwhat he or she needs to succeed."
