The World of Hurricanes
The Hurricane Eye
The Hurricane eye is the weakest part of the hurricane. In the Northern Hemisphere the wind blows counter clockwise around the eye. The wind blows clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. Hurricane eyes travel at speeds of 10 to 15 miles per hour. The hurricane eye is a low pressure system. The eye is a distinctive feature on many hurricanes, and it's the dark spot in the center of a hurricane.
