A heart attack is a sudden blockage of blood flow to a portion of the heart. Some symptoms include chest pain, sweating, nausea, sudden weakness and shortness of breath. A heart attack is one of the leading causes of death.
A heart failure means that the heart does not pump as powerful as it used to, and is not working efficently enough to meet the bodies needs for oxygen- rich blood. Some symptoms are tired muscles, dizziness, swelling in the legs and ankles, shortness of breath, and more time spent in the bathroom. Heart failure effects two to four million people in the United States.
A heart murmur is an abnormal heart sound that is a result from the turbulent flow of blood through the heart. Some symptoms may include shortness of breath, chest pain, and headaches. Heart murmurs are more common in children with the age of 2-4.
Congenital heart disease is a malformation of the heart or large blood vessels near the heart. This disease is something you are born with. This disease can be caused by environmental factors, certain maternal diseases, genetic diseases, chromosome abnormalities and unknown factors. Some children may have no symptoms or signs but, others may develop shortness of breath, cyanosis ( blue discoloration of the skin), chest pain, passing out and poor growth.
