Digital Video - Mr. Olejarz
Students learn to become more media literate. They learn to plan and produce video projects, decode images and messages within media and decide what makes a powerful and effective message. Students develop interview skills, public speaking skills, research skills and learn to interpret and dramatize literature.

Examples of Student Video Projects

Click on a project title to view a listing of videos in that group.

Collection Highlights at the Metropolitan Museum of Art - Students, working in groups of two to three, visit the exhibition site, select a work of art and research the artist who created the artwork. Students then prepare an artist interview by developing questions and answers for the interview. The interview is taped and edited.
Aesop's Fables - Students read Aesop's Fables. Students, working in groups of two to four illustrate the fable by searching the internet for images that illustrate their fable and import the images into their video. The students do a voice-over of the story. The students then write a script for their version of the fable, tape and finally edit their dramatization. In the earliest version of this project students simply dramatized the fable.
Character Counts - Students review The Six Pillars of Character, select a pillar and then write a script that illustrates that pillar. The students, working in groups of two to four, tape their interpretation and then edit the video.
Poetry in Motion - Students, working in groups of two to four, select a poem. The students then treat each line of the poem as a scene in a movie. They illustrate or dramatize each line of the poem. The resulting illustrations and video clips are then edited.
Commercials - Students invent a product and then tape and edit a commercial for their product.
Famous Artist Interviews - Students selected and researched a famous artist. One of the students played the artist and another interviewed the artist. This project is an earlier version of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Collectin Highlights project.
Interview Projects - The first interview project I did with students. Students decided on a topic to interview each other about. In some cases students assumed the identity of a famous person.
