Creating Web Pages With Links

1. Use Internet Explorer to browse the web and bookmark web pages that you would like to include on your web site.

2. Open the template web page located in your folder. Go to the File Menu and select Save Page As... You may call this page links.html and place Class Links in the title field. Once again, be sure to save this page in your folder using the Save Page As selection in the File Menu!

3. Be sure that your links web page is in the edit mode, if you see the page icon in the upper right hand corner you are in the edit mode. If you see the globe in the upper right hand corner you are in the preview mode and will be unable to add the links or edit text.

4. Are you going to have links in different categories? If so, you may want to create your headings first. For example, if your web page is on Art you may have headings such as: Painting, Sculpture, Graphics, Photography, Performance Art, .... If you are organizing you links by assignments you may list the assignments. To do this simply type the title of your heading and you may set the font size to plus two and the color to red. Be sure to put space between your headings by hitting the return key several times between headings.

5. You are now ready to create your links page. Open Internet Explorer and go to the Eisenhower web site. On the top left corner of the Internet Explorer window just below the faded Forward button you see the url for Eisenhower. To place this page on your links page you would hold the mouse down on the @ symbol (just before the http://) and drag it onto your links web page. If you are in the Edit mode the link will appear on your links web page. If the link seems to bounce off the page you are probably in the preview mode.

6. You may want to add a text description of you link after the link and/or format the page by using the indent button to indent the links under a heading.
