Pegasus, the Flying Horse

to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat"

Lincoln Fourth Grade WEL Students

Pegasus, the flying horse,
From Greek mythology,
Carries Zeus' thunderbolts--
Likes art and poetry.

Sprung from Medusa's blood,
Full-grown from the start,
Aligned with Bellerophon,
They ripped the Chimera apart.

The Chimera was part goat,
Lion and dragon too,
Too bad we don't have one
Here at the Bronx Zoo.

Pegasus created the Hippocrene,
Sacred spring of the Muses,
They tried to fly to Mount Olympus,
Zeus didn't like their ruses.

So poor Bellerophon,
Was shaken from his ride,
He was left wandering,
Alone with wounded pride.

Pegasus holds a valiant page,
In the hearts of story lovers,
He wings his way across the skies,
Forever he bravely hovers.
