Rockhoppers
by Christina, Jennifer and Kayla
to the tune of "Yankee
Doodle"
There are many different breeds
Of penguins, but we
Are studying the rockhoppers,
So listen up please.
They live in rocky mountains,
And on the beach
Where the sand is really lumpy
And where rocks' height is beyond belief.
They have white chests
And eyes real red and small,
They have yellow crests
And are forty centimeters tall.
They weigh about 9 pounds
And can jump six feet high.
Like other penguins, they are birds,
that are unable to fly.
Rockhoppers' threats are wild cats,
Ferrets, stoats and dogs,
Southern brown skuas and other mammals,
That is pretty much all.
This breed of penguins is pretty
small,
But it eats quite a bit,
Including krill and some small fish,
And even tiny squid.
We hope you like our little song,
About rockhopper penguins,
We hope that it was not too long,
Don't worry--we will end it!!
