Southern Flying
Squirrel
Sean
To the tune of "Row,
Row, Your Boat"
The southern flying
squirrel,
From the forests of North America,
Isolated in Mexico though
found mostly in Nebraska.
More aggressive
than the northern type,
Most squirrels are bigger than them,
They make sounds as in "tseet!"
Each baby is a gem.
As adults, they're
9 inches,
And weigh 2 to 4 ounces,
They have excellent hearing too,
Their gliding never bounces.
They have 3 to7
young at a time,
With a gestation of 40 days,
Two breeding periods is what they have,
The young is with whom they play.
They need mast production
trees,
From which they eat many nuts,
We don't know their water requirements,
But never is one a klutz.
