A
Ligers
TO THE TUNE OF "ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT"
LINCOLN SCHOOL

The world’s largest cat
Is the rare liger.
Its father is a roaring lion,
Mom’s a striped tiger.

Panthera leo/trigris
Could be its science name.
Do not be fooled by its cute looks,
It is far from tame.
Males weigh nine hundred pounds,
And stand at twelve feet tall.
They also grow short manes,
But that is far from all.

They sport stripes and spots
And golden/orange fur.
They only live in captivity.
They roar and chuff, not purr.
Although these cats love to swim,
They are prone to disease,
But scientists keep breeding them
Trying hard to please.
Tigons are their relatives.
They are in reverse.
Lion moms and tiger dads,
Short life spans are their curse.
Tigons are very small,
Three hundred fifty pounds.
Both hybrids fascinate,
In nature never found.
