Royal Penguins

To the tune of “IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL”
Michaela and Olivia

Royal Penguins are strange birds,
They eat krill that swim in herds,
Fish and squids taste better than Nerds,
Royal Penguins squeak.

Macquarie Island’s
Their special home,
It’s near New Zealand
Where they roam
They usually travel in pairs,
Black feathers are what they wear,
Royal Penguins are strange birds.

Just two eggs
At a time,
One often dies
But the other is fine,
The male takes care
Of the chicks in the lair,
And at 20 days a crèche is made.

At sixty-five days
They are free to roam.
Their orange and yellow crests
Are seen far from home,
White chins on a seventy cm frame
Their beauty brings them fame
Royal Penguins squeak.
