Seventh grade WEL students participate in a theme restaurant simulation sponsored by the Foundation for Free Enterprise. Teams of students work together to use investigative tools and solve problems based on real-world situations. This problem-based learning builds resourcefulness, research skills, accountability, interpersonal cohesion, and an appreciation for the talents of others. Team members create blueprints, interior and exterior designs, detailed business practices, human relations policies, menus, and marketing campaigns. The most important aspect of this activity is the student's ability to use already developed skills of creativity, critical thinking, research, and product presentation while working with peers toward a common goal.
Experts from the world of business enrich our students' understanding of the free enterprise system.
This year's featured speakers were Murray Sabrin, professor of economics at Ramapo College, and Cindy Rose, director of programs for The Foundation of Free Enterprise.
The endeavor climaxes in a full-day devoted to creative presentations of team visions to a panel of judges chosen by the Foundation. The Wyckoff teams have earned a reputation for unsurpassed excellence and achievement.
