PTO Program Descriptions
Events
Bicycle Safety Day: A program held in early spring for 3rd and 4th Grade students. Children bring their bikes to school and are instructed in bicycle safety by the Wyckoff Police and Parent Volunteers.
Book Fair/Family Fun Night: Each child is given an opportunity during the school day to preview the books and prepare a wish list. Parents may then purchase the books during the evening of Family Fun Night while their children are entertained in classrooms, reading books and doing crafts with the help of parent volunteers.
Carnation/Valentines Day: Children are given the opportunity to purchase a flower for their teacher or those special people in their lives; Volunteers sort orders and prepare the flowers for distribution.
Fall Festival: After school in October, students get together for a fall festival filled with games, face-painting, food and lots more.
Fall Social: A fun adult evening to mingle with Lincoln parents while enjoying a night out. Great opportunity to meet other parents someplace other than the playground!
Family Bingo: A family social event to take place on one Friday night in the early April. Parent volunteers plan and run this very successful and fun evening.
Fifth Grade Activities: Be a part of your fifth grader’s last year at Lincoln School. Plan and coordinate the class trip, party, t-shirts etc.
Holiday Mall: Children are given an opportunity to purchase inexpensive holiday gifts during a selected week late November or early December. Parents work in shifts to prepare for and staff the event.
Dad’s Night: Dad’s come together to strut their stuff! No talent required but appreciated! Dad’s perform; provide staging, lighting and technical support for a show starring them on a Friday night in March. This event is always entertaining and a favorite for our children.
Kid’s Nights: An evening of fun and games is organized by parents for each grade level one Friday night in January. 4th and 5th graders go bowling one afternoon in January.
Ladies Night Out: Mom’s enjoy an evening out with good friends, fine dining and an opportunity to win many wonderful prizes. Classes donate baskets and other prizes are solicited from local merchants.
Math Night & Pi Day: On or around March 14th (3.14) students are treated to a math lesson based on games and fun showcasing the number Pi. That night families are invited to come learn how fun math can be! Volunteers help in the classrooms with pre-arranged games and lessons. At night volunteers are needed to lead the games and stations.
Military Bridge: This is a great evening allowing for an opportunity to play a simple card game unrelated to traditional bridge. Participants have an opportunity to win many wonderful baskets.
Movie Nights: Come watch a family movie at the Lincoln School theatre. Bring a blanket and a pillow and settle down with family and friends on a cool evening.
Staff Appreciation Day: This day celebrates our teachers and staff. The PTO arranges an elegant luncheon and parent volunteers oversee students during lunch and recess so our valued staff can enjoy their meal.
Theme Day: A school wide favorite, Theme Day offers fun and educational workshops for the children run by professionals, with parent volunteers to assist.
Fundraisers
Cookie Dough/Pizza Sale: Need to make a quick batch of cookies for the kids? Is someone hungry and needs a yummy pizza? Order tubs of delicious ready to bake cookie dough or a box of ready to assemble pizza to keep in your freezer. Volunteers needed to collect orders and help with the distribution.
Grocery Card Program: Purchase “pre-loaded” cards to use at your local grocery stores. Volunteers are needed to organize, collect money and distribute cards.
Incentive Rebates: Lincoln families are encouraged to bring their empty cartridges in to school so that they can be submitted a couple of times a year for rebate. Promote other online incentive programs as needed.
Kid’s Art: Turn your 1st – 5th graders work of art into your choice of keepsakes for instance, mugs, mouse pads, note cards, and more.
Kid Stuff Coupon Book – Book filled with coupons for shopping, entertainment and food. Volunteers help sort and distribute books to the students.
Plant Sales: Help to beautify the homes of Lincoln Families. Volunteers help organize and coordinate a fall mum sale, poinsettia sale and spring plant sale.

Programs
After School Programs: Stay after school the fun way! Programs are offered in cooking, art, science, and more.
Cultural: PTO funds are used to sponsor a variety of cultural activities which are presented at assemblies throughout the school year.
Great Books: Parents of 3rd and 4th graders are trained to conduct lessons and discussions pertaining to specific literature with small groups of children.
Masterpiece Art: Artists, works, and techniques are selected for grade levels and volunteers present three exciting art lessons to your child’s class. All the materials and training are provided. The key is interest, not talent.
Services
Baker: Don’t hide your culinary talents! Share them with the teachers and parents. Volunteers are needed to make treats for the Sunshine Stars and PTO meetings.
Basket Committee: Do you like to shop? Are you the type of person who is good at getting donations? Are you artistic? If you are – we need you! Put your talents and your friend’s talents to work to create fun baskets for Military Bridge and Ladies’ Night Out.
Class Parents: Contact parents act as a liaison between the teacher and parents assisting with special classroom activities throughout the year. Both contact parents and class parents will be asked to make phone calls periodically to each parent, plan holiday parties, accompany children on class trips, etc.
Emmanuel Cancer Food Drive: Coordinate food drives at various times of the year.
Kid Safe ID Card Program: Coordinate and organize this initiative to keep our children safe.
Economy Shop: Household items gently used clothing, sports equipment and crafts are accepted for consignment by the Economy Shop, which is located at the train depot on Main St. The shop is staffed and managed solely by PTO volunteers from each of the schools in the district. Shifts are either morning or afternoon for about 2 ½ hours. The shop retains 40% of the sale price of each item, and each of the schools receives a percentage of the annual profits. For over 50 years the shop has returned substantial funding to the PTO and provides a valuable community service.
Friendship and Caring: This committee offers friendship and support to families in need in the Lincoln School community. Support includes meal preparations, gifts and correspondence in connection with happy or sad events.
Lincoln Library Lovers: Families are given the opportunity to donate a book to the Media Center to commemorate a special event or occasion. Donations are acknowledged with a photo and certificate. Hundreds of books have already been donated through this wonderful program.
Lincoln Pride: Parent volunteers take pride in their school by looking after the beautiful plants and flowers over the hot summer months.
Luncheon Treats: Parent volunteers serve hot lunch to cool kids five days a week. Volunteers can help either every week or every other week depending on your schedule.
Media Center: A special group of moms work hard to keep our Media Center going. Working one shift every other week, they help the students and staff. It is fun and easy and the hours are flexible.
Playground Equipment: Keep the kids active outside with balls and toys. Volunteers purchase equipment to keep in the classrooms.
Publicity: Snap some photos at Lincoln Events to submit to the local papers.
School Supplies: Don’t spend time and gas driving all over for school supplies! Order a complete set of supplies for each grade to be delivered to school. Volunteers organize orders and distribution.
