Sicomac School’s 2007 Art Appreciation Program
The Hands-on Art Lessons
Our newly updated Art Appreciation Program is a unique and wonderful cultural enrichment program in visual arts. Parent volunteers will visit every classroom once each marking period to present a hands-on art lesson. The goal of the program is to help students develop their natural talents and powers of observation and to feel free to express what they think and feel in a variety of art media. We believe that art experience is an important part of education for all students because it builds a higher level of thinking, decision making and problem solving skills.
This year’s theme honors The American Artist. The lesson plans are 30 minutes in length and have been pre-created/packaged to ensure that each is suitable and challenging for its grade level and to simplify its facilitation and guided tour by the volunteer parent. Additionally, all necessary art supplies will be provided in advance making this a fully turnkey and fun experience for all involved.
We at the Sicomac School PTO are proud of the newly updated Art Appreciation Program and are looking forward to a year of creative thinking and artistic inspiration!
