Art Docent:
Parents volunteer to present a ready-made program about a specific artist. Presentations are made once per quarter. |
Bicycle Safety:
3rd and 4th graders are instructed in bicycle safety by the Wyckoff Police and parent volunteers. |
Book Fair:
The book fair offers students the opportunity to shop for books at school. Parents are invited to shop with children. |
Buddy Family:
Sicomac families are matched with a new family to offer friendship and information. An Ice Cream Social is held at the start of the school year so everyone can meet. |
Community Outreach:
This committee plans activities for our students to do during class parties to help various non-profit organizations. |
Costume and Make-Up Committee:
This committee works with the music teacher to provide costumes and make-up for the shows that are produced throughout the year. |
Cultural Committee:
The Cultural Committee selects the performers and programs that the PTO sponsors during the year. |
Economy Shop:
Sponsored by all of the PTO’s in Wyckoff, the Economy Shop offers gently used clothing and household items for sale. It is located on Main Street. Volunteers are needed to work a shift each month. Shifts can be shared by more than one person. |
Environmental & Social Action:
Educate, advocate, and take action on environmentally friendly ideas and practices. |
Field Day:
Organized by the physical education teachers, Field Day is a fun outdoor activity day in the spring. The PTO provides lunch. |
Flower Sales:
Flower sales are held in advance of Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. The children can order flowers to give to someone special. |
Friendship Basket:
This committee offers support to families in need in our school community. Support includes meals and correspondence for happy or sad events. |
Fun & Games:
This Committee plans fun events for the children, including monthly estimating contests. |
Great Books:
Parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are trained to conduct lessons and discussions pertaining to specific literature to a small group of children. |
Kid's Night:
A great opportunity for Dads to volunteer. Each grade is invited to attend a Friday Night in January for a fun filled hour of relay races and games. |
Meals For Kids:
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the PTO offers lunches provided by an external service. An order form is filled out and payment is computed in advance for which you will receive coupons to submit for lunch. There are a variety of lunches, snacks and drinks to choose from. |
Media Center:
Parents volunteer to help in the media center on a regular basis throughout the school year. The responsibilities include shelving and checking out books. |
Military Bridge:
A simple card game unrelated to traditional bridge. Wonderful gift baskets are offered as exciting raffles during the event |
Mom's Night Out:
A night for Mom to get out and meet new moms and catch up with old friends. A casual dinner is served at a local restaurant. |
Movie Night:
An outdoor movie is shown in September. |
Staff Appreciation:
This day celebrates our teachers and staff. The PTO arranges an elegant luncheon and parent volunteers oversee lunch. |
Theme Day:
A school wide favorite, Theme Day offers fun and educational workshops for the children run by professionals, with parent volunteers to assist. |
