a special place for children to live and learn. The environment in our school is one that is built upon mutual respect for every member of our George Washington School family. Children enjoy coming to school because they feel the entire staff cares about them as individuals and because it is a fun place to learn. Parents, teachers, and children know that there is always someone to listen to their ideas, suggestions or concerns.
Perhaps, the best description ever given regarding George Washington School was by a long-time parent, when he said, "From the outside it looks like a school, on the inside it feels like a home."
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
In order for children to grow to their fullest potential there needs to be an equal balance between the cognitive and affective domains. We want our children to be responsible citizens as well as good students. Developing positive self-esteem and feeling good about oneself allows for greater risk taking and greater creative expression.
