Speech

Mrs. Roukema

The speech/language program is designed to aid students who need specialized instruction to improve their communication skills. These skills may involve the areas of articulation, voice, fluency, and receptive/expressive language.

Students who are having difficulties in these areas may be referred to the speech/language specialist by parents and/or teachers. The need for possible intervention, referral, and evaluative procedures is discussed by the teacher, parent, and speech specialist. If, after an evaluation, the child meets the specific criteria for eligibility for speech/language services,an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) is developed to address these specific needs. The teacher, parent, and speech specialist comprise the team who develop and implement this plan.
