* The strategy of the month is Determining Importance
* Students are practicing how to differentiate between what is important and what is interesting.
Science
* 5K has begun a unit of study on Food & Nutrition
*Students are learning about the Food Pyramid and the 6 nutrients found in food to prepare
a well balanced diet.
*The 4 labs covered in this unit are the Fat Test, the Sugar Test, the Acid Test and the Free Lunch.
* Students will demonstrate their knowledge through a Food Pyramid collage and a Current Events project of their choice.
Social Studies
* 5K is studying the colonial heritage of 13 colonies and beginning a discussion on the American Revolution. This is the start of our preparation for the June Encampment!
Writing
* 5K is working on Persuasive Writing. Students are writing about issues important in their
lives. Persuasive writing will include discussions about fact & opinion, bias, pro/con and understanding peruasive tone.
