In October, the children met Mr. M and Ms. T from the Land of the Letter People. Mr. M has a munching mouth and loves to munch everything!  The children learned about healthy things to eat and classified items that were safe to eat for Mr. M.  Ms. T has tall teeth and the children learned about caring for their own teeth.  This month the children worked in learning centers and were introduced to many new concepts at the centers. For example, in the Math Center, children learn about measurement by comparing the weights of different objects on a balance scale.  They also build towers with tower cubes and worked with tangrams.  The parts of a tree were examined with magnifying glasses in the Science Center.  The children learned about magnetic items and searched the room for items that were magnetic. Listening skills were developed as children listened to stories on tape and then created their own version of the stories.
