Welcome to my Kindergarten class at Washington School. In my classroom, children are valued as active learners, striving to make meaning out of their daily interactions and experiences. The environment, which supports learning, is safe and nurturing and promotes the development of each child. My goal is to stimulate children in all areas of development - the physical, social, emotional and cognitive areas.
Classroom practices are structured to arouse children's curiosity, minimize the risk of failure, encourage independence and problem solving, and promote self-esteem. Materials and activities are open-ended, hands-on and age appropriate, providing for exploration. Diversity in the classroom is celebrated.
The Kindergarten curriculum is a balanced approach to teaching. Literacy is woven throughout all areas.
