Meet the World Language Teachers!

Señora Guzmán

¡Hola clase! As a native speaker from Colombia, I am proud to be part of the World Language Program in the Wyckoff Schools System.

I bring my own personal experiences from my childhood and the close family relationships that I have shared with immediate and extended family members. Also, I am able to talk about the numerous anecdotes of the "fiestas" we have for every occasion.

As a very young child, I experienced the education system in Colombia, but most of my schooling has been in the United States. Due to the fact that my mother was a teacher in Colombia, my education has always been of the utmost importance to my family.

I am proud to share my heritage and culture with the students and to open the doors for them to make connections about the world around them.

Don Rafael

¡Hola, chicos! My name is Don Rafael and this is my first year teaching in Wyckoff. I grew up in Essex County, N.J. and I studied Spanish at Rutgers College in New Brunswick. I further developed my linguistic skills and cultural knowledge of the Spanish speaking world by living a number of years abroad.

I spent three years teaching English as a Second Language in a high school in Madrid, Spain. During this time I immersed myself in both the language and culture of this fascinating country. Later I did the same while living for two years in Guadalajara, Mexico and teaching E.S.L. at the "Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara."

These experiences gave me a true appreciation of both countries' cusstoms and traditions. They enabled him to reflect upon them and value the similarities and differences that exist between them and those of our own country.

I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work in Wyckoff and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with the goal of growth for your children an mysel.
